HPC Ignites is all about creating momentum, from the technology we work with to the community that drives innovation. Let’s explore this year’s theme, the inspiration behind it, and what it means to the volunteers and organizers behind the conference! What’s in a Theme? The Fuel Strong Foundations Our community is our foundation. Since SC first began more than 35 years ago, we have been building an ecosystem focused on knowledge sharing and collaboration. We take inspiration from past conference themes, including SC23’s I Am HPC, as a means to explore the personal and collective contributions to our field. This year is no exception, as we intend to raise the voices of the many individuals and teams who make our field truly extraordinary. Our hope is to feature technological breakthroughs alongside the people who make HPC happen. The Spark Creativity & Innovation Taking inspiration from SC24’s HPC Creates, we intend to further explore the sparks of HPC creativity in music, arts, and humanities. Supercomputing is inviting artists to explore new forms of expression and researchers to analyze cultural heritage in unprecedented ways. Thanks to these innovations, we look forward to showcasing advanced processors and optimized algorithms alongside an emerging generation of artists and explorers who will guide us to new discoveries. The Flame Passion for Impact HPC changes lives—from historical simulations to environmental modeling and AI-driven breakthroughs. It helps us understand our past, navigate the present, and prepare for the future. Our passion extends beyond computation to making a real-world difference, addressing global challenges, and improving lives through technology-driven solutions. Taking inspiration from the SC22 theme, HPC Accelerates, we are excited to highlight how we continue to grow—from improving our conference and submission process, to how we engage digitally and personally in St. Louis. Sustainability A Durable Future Looking back to SC21’s Science & Beyond, we recognize that sustainability is key—both in energy-efficient computing and in building a long-lasting community. We must continue to innovate responsibly, reducing environmental impact while ensuring more opportunities to study and work in our field.
