June 10, 2025 Program Art of HPC Call for Participation Share this page: Twitter Facebook LinkedIn Email By Cristin Merritt After a successful debut at SC24 in Atlanta, Georgia, the Art of HPC returns for SC25, bringing its unique blend of creativity to the St. Louis America’s Center. This initiative continues to shine a light on the imaginative and unexpected intersections of high performance computing and artistic expression. Cosmic Breeze, Cooper Downs and Ronald Caplan (Predictive Science Inc.) (Above) HPC from a Different Perspective With the Art of HPC, imagination is the only limit The Art of HPC offers an opportunity for members of the SC community to explore and share their creative ideas. From scientific visualizations and algorithmic artistry to animations and experimental compositions, this open conference display challenges traditional perceptions of supercomputing. While HPC clusters are often seen primarily as powerful engines for solving problems, this exhibit illuminates a new path: that they can also be instruments of storytelling. This display explores supercomputers as creative canvases — generating intricate visuals from Python scripts, crafting dynamic simulations of celestial magic, and assembling collages that reflect the humanity behind the machines. It invites attendees to experience the intersection of technology and art in a way that is both intellectual and emotional. Whether you’re a computational scientist with a creative side, a data artist, or simply someone with a fresh perspective, your voice — and your vision — belongs here. At SC25, the Art of HPC will once again serve as a creative hub within the technical program, allowing participants to step outside of the purely analytical and immerse themselves in work that inspires, connects, and celebrates the vibrant HPC community. We welcome both individual contributors and collaborative teams. Each submission should include: A high-resolution image or video, up to 4 GB in size A short paragraph describing the artistic intent and context An artifact document detailing how the piece was created, including tools used, software or scripts employed, and relevant metadata Selected works will be showcased in a gallery-style display at the conference and may also be featured in a curated video montage. Once submissions are accepted, our team will collaborate with artists to ensure all descriptions, attributions, and open licenses are in place. Ready to Illuminate the Path? The Art of HPC is more than a showcase, it’s a celebration of the creativity woven into the fabric of supercomputing. We encourage everyone, whether you’re working with data, pixels, code, or more, to submit and be part of this initiative. Let’s turn data into dreams, and machines into muses. See you in St. Louis! Submissions for SC25 are open now until August 15, 2025. Art of HPC submissions
